Weha Introduces Large Heavy Duty Shop Cart

Posted on 27 July 2021 by cradmin4

The new Weha Large Fabrication Shop Cart was made specifically for large and fragile stone fabrication. As stones get larger, more than 10-ft. and taller up to 80-in., those oversized slabs need a larger cart than the traditional dry wall shop carts.

According to the company this new cart is suitable for all shop needs including marble, granite, quartz, quartzite, onyx, porcelain, sintered stone and more.

The cart is manufactured with 1 1/2-in. diameter pipe with three bolted support bars to handle the weight of the stone. The surface deck is 53-in. long by 16-in. deep and the surface deck also comes with a white rubber mat. Between the support bars next to the surface deck, there is a space of 10-in. for additional storage. This will allow for keeping the entire job, or two, on one shop cart throughout the fabrication process.

For any size island or full slab, it will ride safe with very little stress hanging above. The 2 swivel wheels with locks and 2 fixed wheels are 6-in. diameter and are built to safely hold 2640 lbs.

Additionally, the Weha Large Shop Cart comes with a plastic storage bin for a tape measure, pens, markers, etc. to keep with the cart.

Native Trails Introduces NativeStone in Charcoal

Posted on 26 July 2021 by cradmin4

As of July 2021, all NativeStone products are available in Charcoal, a rich matte black finish. This means there are now five finishes to choose from in the NativeStone family:

  • Ash: A light, naturally mottled gray
  • Slate: A soft, medium gray
  • Pearl: A glowing off white
  • Earth: A warm, natural brown-gray
  • Charcoal: A rich matte black

Seeing a need for a black finish in their NativeStone concrete collection, Native Trails began working with artisans in Vietnam last year to develop the right hue. The resulting Charcoal finish plays well with both warm and cool hues on the color wheel. It complements a range of accessories, faucets and design styles.

Architectural Surfaces Group Announces Strategic Rebranding

Posted on 23 July 2021 by cradmin4

Architectural Surfaces Group, an importer and distributor of natural stone, engineered stone and tile for residential and commercial applications, announced the strategic rebranding of its regional brands AG&M, Pental Surfaces and Modul Marble as Architectural Surfaces.

The new name leverages the company’s national presence to provide brand clarity and streamline the customer experience for fabricators, architects and interior designers working in both the residential kitchen and bath and commercial construction industries. Customers now have the clarity and ease of engaging with one brand across the 20-plus U.S. markets Architectural Surfaces serves rather than three brands that varied by region.

With Architectural Surfaces, fabricators and designers will continue to enjoy a deep inventory of globally sourced materials, a robust national distribution network and industry experts who understand the unique needs of their market.

“In consolidating under the Architectural Surfaces brand, we brought together the core elements of each regional brand’s DNA just as we are bringing together our employee and customer base to form a stronger national brand.” says Patrick Dussinger, President of Architectural Surfaces.

Business Sense: Good customer service will make you more money

Posted on 19 July 2021 by cradmin

by Katherine Gifford of Moraware

It’s too easy to deprioritize customer service when you’re overworked and you don’t have a large enough team to step in and help. And given today’s market, when the jobs are rolling in with little effort, it’s hardly motivating to put extra work into a part of your business that isn’t production.

But, the really important, really overlooked fact is that your customers are buying more than new countertops when they sign up with you. They are paying for a whole heap of things: your expertise, their peace of mind, a smooth experience from start to finish, quality products, feeling like they aren’t being ripped off, the list goes on and on.

The experience you provide will determine if that customer writes a good review, refers you to new customers, and/or books you for future jobs. By offering a less than stellar experience, you’re really only hurting yourself in the long run.

On the other hand, you can choose to provide an amazing experience for your customers and leave them so thrilled they can’t help but refer you to everyone they know looking for new countertops. You’ll reap many rewards, my friends. Like more customers, more money, and less complaints! Let’s discuss some areas for improvement.

TCNA Releases Industry-Wide Material Ingredient Guide

Posted on 12 July 2021 by cradmin4

Tile Council of North America (TCNA) announced publication of its Material Ingredient Guide at Coverings 2021. This Material Ingredient Guide is the first of its kind and provides information about the material ingredients used industry-wide by North American tile, mortar and grout manufacturers. It provides in-depth health assessments of materials used and is a resource for manufacturers to use when providing the content and chemical makeup of their products or “material ingredient transparency”.

In developing this guide, 17 manufacturers collaborated to obtain GreenScreen Benchmark Scores for the vast majority of material ingredients used by ceramic tile, mortar and grout manufacturers.

“Product ingredient disclosure is in high demand,” stated Dan Marvin, Sr. Vice President of Operations for Ironrock and Chairman of TCNA’s Green Initiative Committee. “Through development of the Material Ingredient Guide, the tile industry is committed to thoroughness, consistency and transparency in reporting information about the materials from which our products are made.”

With a consistent, thorough, and transparent approach to material ingredient reporting and the compilation of referenceable GreenScreen Assessment® Benchmark scores on industry-wide materials, TCNA members aim to have the largest number of fully assessed material ingredient reports in the market. These fully assessed reports will make ceramic tile, mortar and grout products eligible for contribution to LEED, WELL and Living Building Challenge “optimization” credits. TCNA’s Material Ingredient Guide initiative amplifies the North American ceramic tile industry’s dedication to health and environmental sustainability .

Wes Sullens, Director of LEED for the U.S. Green Building Council commented, “The result of this collaboration within the tile industry will push the market forward and spark even greater innovation and consideration for healthier indoor environments. This work provides the marketplace with key information needed by those pursuing LEED green building certification as they select products.”
