Cosentino Adds to SENSA Protected Natural Stone Collection

Posted on 18 March 2021 by cradmin

Developed exclusively by Cosentino, Sensa is a maintenance-free premium natural stone with a revolutionary stain protection that, according to the company, rivals the performance of man-made surfacing. Every Sensa slab is different from the rest because each surface has exceptional veining that is found in no other. Sensa by Cosentino comes equipped with Senguard, a deep treatment applied during the manufacturing process that protects the stone, helping eliminate required sealing for years to come.

Six hues join the SENSA Premium collection, which offers protected granite and quartzite surfaces, providing a wider choice of striking designs.

  • Argenti Grey (pictured) boasts white horizontal veining across a striking dark surface.
  • Blue Jeans evokes the deepest of nature featuring tints of grey, tan and cream hues.
  • Nilo captures a dark grey background over striking faded grey veins.
  • Siberia features a white background speckled with small black points, evocative of white Siberian snow.
  • Vancouver is a beautiful quartzite from Brazil with detailed pink and gray veining.
  • Via Lattea features a black background accompanied by small and soft white veins.

Sensa by Cosentino also comes with a 15-year transferable warranty.

Antolini Adds to Exclusive Stone Collection

Posted on 09 April 2020 by cradmin3

Antolini has recently made three new introductions to its Exclusive Stone Collection. Each carefully selected natural design stands for an unconstrained stylistic freedom. With worldwide exclusivity over the most astonishing materials and sole access to the quarries, Antolini is able to offer Mother Nature’s finest creations, in multiple finishes, through a select network of distributors and partners.

Crema Cielo (pictured above) features cascading delicate and soft hues that descend sinuously and create an admirable kinship throughout the surface of this fine marble. The fluent Crema Cielo enhances the spaces and gives a sense of lightness and spontaneity thanks to the wavy streams that allow a constantly evolving smooth shape.

Louise Blue features Mediterranean aqua hues that settle into a deep green emerald tide as colors bleed into one another like delta waters. This quartzite, a work of art created by the heart of the earth, is a symbol of unintentional creativity that’s been alive much longer than Mankind’s imagination

Quartzite Celadon is a unique unity of modern, contemporary design with the timeless look of natural stone. The grey and white ribbons of Quartzite Celadon gracefully cascade into the design.

Video: Scratch and Acid Testing Granite, Quartzite and Marble

Posted on 20 December 2018 by cradmin

While we do not know the details of the claims made by the consumer made in this video nor do we validate them, we believe that there is a teachable moment here, probably more than a few. What we found of most interest in this video is the relatively simple way that testing can show the difference between marble, quartzite and granite.

This video shows three tests – an etching test, and two different scratch tests, based on the Mohs scale, that can be performed to show the differences in hardness and resistance to acid etching. That is not to say that all three materials cannot be scratched or damaged, just that there are differences.

As to the claims made by author of the video, as to the product misrepresentation, there is no documentation of any kind shown in the video that states he was told he was being sold quartzite, and frankly it is not our intention to address any claims made by either party. Simply the idea is to show the testing processes and the differences in materials.

Overall, an educated fabricator is certainly a better fabricator and is in a position to better educate their customers and set expectations no matter the product they choose. And, expectation setting is key to having happy, well-informed customers.

Posted on 01 February 2018 by cradmin

Weha Carbon Fiber Rodding BarsThe Weha Carbon Fiber rodding is the latest technology in fiberglass rodding for granite, all natural stones, engineered stones and quartz counter top applications. The rodding bars are available in pre-cut 4 ft. (48 in.) length in bundles of 100. The product allows for no more unraveling of rodding stands or rolls.

The 48 in. length will extend past any sink. Simply cut with a grinder or bolt cutters to the length you need and glue it in. It is made with a high concentration of fiberglass strands throughout the entire profile, reportedly making the rodding stronger than traditional white fiberglass rodding.

Weha has also added an additional top and bottom layer of high tensile strength carbon on both sides to increase the strength of the product. According to the company this makes the Weha Carbon Fiber Rodding one of the strongest granite fiberglass rodding that can be used.
