LOTTE Chemical Expands Production Capacity

Posted on 25 February 2021 by cradmin

LOTTE Chemical announced the addition of a third engineered-stone production line at its Belenco plant in Turkey. The expanded production volume of the Turkish plant supplements LOTTE’s Yeosu plant in South Korea. The combined capacity of the two facilities is 22 million sq. ft. per annum.

According to LOTTE, the $30M investment in the new production line will ensure a stable and secure global supply chain for its engineered-stone products. LOTTE’s Turkish facility’s proven manufacturing capabilities are complemented by distribution efficiencies through the port of Izmir and access to ample raw materials from a nearby stone mine.

Acquired by LOTTE in March 2019, Belenco is the largest manufacturer of engineered stone in Turkey. The plant is located in Turkey’s Manisa OIZ industrial complex, on the outskirts of the city of Izmir. Belenco utilizes state-of-the-art, Breton manufacturing technology; a process that produces high-quality, technologically advanced engineered-stone material for the building industry. LOTTE has been a licensee of Breton technology since 2018, utilizing the process in the development of its popular Cirrus Collection of quartz surfaces.

Silestone by Cosentino Unveils Loft Series

Posted on 23 February 2021 by cradmin

Silestone by Cosentino unveiled The Silestone® Loft Series. Rooted in the industrial, the colors capture the essence of neighborhoods celebrated for their raw, purely urban beauty.

The Silestone Loft Colorways include:

  • Camden is inspired by one of London’s most influential alternative neighborhoods– beloved for its diversity, eclectic residents and vibrant art scene. A soft, delicate and consistent gray, with a fine grain and a very subtle white veining, Camden captures the natural wear and tear that gives cement its character.
  • Poblenou (pictured) serves as a nod to the epicenter of Barcelona’s industrial revolution, one of the city’s most modern and creative neighborhoods. Its warm shade of gray with subtle veining on a sandy background brings brightness– offering a comforting texture and familiar ambiance.
  • Seaport channels the peacefulness of the weather-worn docks found in the seaside district of lower Manhattan. Similar to a dark, worn cement, the subtle streaks of white blend perfectly in the background for the perfect touch of contrast.
  • Nolita, another New York-inspired creation, celebrates the avant-garde spirit and strong architectural identity that gave the neighborhood its distinctive character. Nolita is both elegant and industrial. Blended with shades of whites and light gray, it creates an elegant, fine line — free of strong contrasts.
  • Corktown captures both the light and shade of a Detroit neighborhood that grew up amidst steam, pistons and the sound of engines — one that has reaped prosperity, endured deterioration, and regenerated once more. As the most intense, solid and deep black of the Loft collection, its dark matte finish blends beautifully with intense brown touches.

Among the notable new features of the Silestone Loft Series is the debut of the innovative and exclusive HybriQ+ technology. This new production process and major leap in the evolution of the Silestone brand combines reused raw materials, along with 98 percent recycled water and 100 percent renewable energy. HybriQ+ technology also allows for the significant reduction of crystalline silica in the Silestone Loft Series surfaces. Instead, a hybrid formula made up of mineral and reused raw materials, such as recycled glass, is used. This new composition provides the material with a modern aesthetic and design features, while maintaining the beauty and quality of Silestone, as well as its 25-year warranty.

Additionally, this new generation of Silestone is designed with sustainability and respect for the environment in mind; a tremendous milestone made possible by more than three years of intense work by Cosentino Group’s Innovation and Product and Environment teams.

Level Up Your Countertop Quoting with Slab Layouts

Posted on 16 February 2021 by cradmin

By Katherine Gifford of Moraware

Slab layouts are critical in making sure your estimate is accurate. Some fabricators rely on guesswork, some do complex math based on square footage, and others spend hours in CAD for a prospect who may never even spend a dime!

None of these are great solutions for quickly and easily doing a slab layout. Lucky for you, CounterGo has a handy slab layout estimating feature. Here’s everything you need to know about solving your slab layout headaches.

An Inaccurate Slab Layout Can Cost You Thousands

Picture this: you meet a new prospect, and they need new kitchen countertops. You calculate the square footage and figure you only need one slab. You give them your quote, and they send back a deposit.

All is good, right?

Once you start on the fabrication, you realize the veining isn’t going to match up – no matter how you lay it out.

KBIS Virtual Programming Continues, Exhibitor Booth Experience Postponed

Posted on 11 February 2021 by cradmin

The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), the destination for kitchen and bath design professionals, today announced changes to the KBIS Virtual experience. Because of technology issues that could not be resolved in a timely manner, the show floor experience featuring the KBIS exhibitor booths has been postponed. The NKBA and KBIS are investigating alternative solutions that may allow the exhibitor experience and booth activations to be relaunched. The situation evolved rapidly, and rectifying the challenges at-hand proved more complex than anticipated. Access to KBISConnect.com has been closed. However, KBIS Virtual programming continues as scheduled and can be accessed at https://nkba.org/kbis-2021-conference/.

“After a deep dive into the exact sequence of events and consequences that occurred, we have learned that these are unresolvable technical difficulties,” stated Brian Pagel, EVP, Emerald, which produces the show. “The servers that house the platform are down, requiring that we close access to the exhibitor booths. Looking forward, we remain committed to exhaust all efforts to ensure a successful future experience. We understand the gravity of the situation for our exhibitors and attendees, as the KBIS platform is critical to accelerate their business for the year.”

Suzie Williford, EVP and Chief Strategy Officer of the NKBA, which owns KBIS, stated that the NKBA Voices From the Industry conference and Design + Industry Awards event, as well as the KBIS NeXT Stage and Pavilions programming, will continue as scheduled, but will move to NKBA.org. Updated communication with event reminders and links will be sent to all attendees.

“The kitchen and bath and design and construction industries are healthy and vibrant, despite all the challenges of 2020, leading into 2021,” Williford added. “Businesses are still strong and we look forward to celebrating together in Orlando, Fla., in February 2022.”

LG Hausys Introduces New Viatera Colors & Virtual Showroom

Posted on 10 February 2021 by cradmin

LG Hausys and its Viatera quartz surface brand kicked off 2021 by introducing several new colors and a new virtual showroom during KBIS Virtual. Two new collections, the Viatera Urban Collection and Viatera Calacatta Collection, expand the brand’s total number of collection offerings from three to five. A new color has also been added to the existing Viatera Masterpiece collection.

The new Urban Collection debuts with two new colors: Metro and Gotham, both available in Brushed Finish. Metro consists of bright gray tones, ranging from light to medium that intermingle smoothly. Gotham combines stone-gray hues and whisper-thin neutrals in what the company describes as “a sleek and clean aesthetic that creates a sophisticated look.”

The new Calacatta Collection offers a bright, natural white background, intricate veining and large, elegant patterns. Calacatta Sol has a striking white appearance, fused with shades of gold in large-pattern veins and set upon a backdrop of warm twirling hues. Calacatta Plata features minimal, silver veining that dash in random fashion. The widely-spaced veins allow the color’s pristine white to show through, creating an unmistakably timeless look.

The Viatera Masterpiece Collection’s newest color addition is Adagio Gold. This tranquility-inspired color is designed with a soft yet brilliant base and features thin gold veins to create a sense of brightness. Nine colors are now featured within this venerable collection.

Each new Viatera color comes in a Jumbo II size slab of 63- by 130-in., which can accommodate larger layouts, including kitchen islands with fewer seams. They are available in 2cm and 3cm thickness and are backed by LG Hausys’ 15-year transferable warranty.

Additionally, kitchen and bath designers, builders and homeowners can view the new colors, and experience the entire Viatera brand offering, through LG Hausys’ new virtual showroom. With 360-degree views, it is accessible by computer, mobile phone or tablet device and provides an immersive experience.
