Posted on 01 September 2021 by cradmin

Corian® Design, a global brand in advanced surfacing solutions for interior design and architecture, has introduced seven new colors to its Corian Solid Surface Portfolio for interior spaces and architecture. These seven colors are divided into two unique collections, Carrara (Carrara Crema and Carrara Lino) and Artista (Artista Beige, Artista Dust, Artista Gray, Artista Canvas), and a standalone color, Sparkling Granita. These seven new colors of Corian Solid Surface are commercially now available along with the full color palette now including more than 100 colors.

With its design versatility, functionality and durability, Corian Solid Surface can be fabricated with most conventional woodworking tools into virtually any design. According to the company this nonporous material is easy to clean and can be thermoformed into seamless designs so that dirt, mold and bacteria have nowhere to hide.

Additional information about the seven new products includes:

  • Carraras – Inspired by eternal marble stone, prominent veins inform a look in cool and warm colors that are simultaneously classic and modern.
    • Carrara Lino (pictured) – Beautiful gray veins course through the cool white surface to create a perfect interpretation of classically inspired stone.
    • Carrara Crema – A warm beige background is enhanced with enticing monochromatic veins that conjure classic stone in colors that comfort.
  • Artistas – Complexity generates aesthetics with pronounced veins set into neutral grounds. The effect is timeless and contemporary for any application.
    • Artista Beige – Beige is enhanced with similar tones and shades to create a complex look that adds modernity to the warm coloring of the surface.
    • Artista Gray – Enduring gray is freshened with an intricate vein pattern within the surface and dark veins flow through mid-value gray for innovative appeal.
    • Artista Dust – Dark gray, monochrome elements swirl within the dusky background creating an aesthetic that resonates with multiple design styles.
    • Artista Canvas – A comforting, warm ivory surface offers a haven for swirling veins set amongst scattered, light-colored particles.

• Sparkling Granita – Translucent and sparkling particles create an effervescent effect in this fresh white surface to convey energy and visual depth.

The company stated that the material is suitable for use in a variety of residential and commercial applications, including wall features, countertops, vanity tops, tub/shower walls and more. Corian Solid Surface is also renewable and repairable on-site, making it environmentally friendly.

DuPont and Dow Announce Merger Deal, Ramifications for Surfacing Unknown

Posted on 15 December 2015 by cradmin

dupont-dow mergerOn December 11, DuPont and Dow announced they have agreed on a merger, valued at $130 billion. After the merger, the new company monikered “DowDuPont,” plans to split into three separate companies within 18 months to two years after the deal closes. DuPont has said it plans to cut 5,000 employees, assuming the deal is approved by regulators, stock holders and board members. The chemical giants have a variety of overlapping products, but in the countertop/surfacing field only DuPont is a player with its Corian solid surface and Zodiaq quartz surfacing products.

Interestingly DuPont’s surfacing line appears to have recently taken a hit when one of it’s largest distributors that covered 17 states, Colt Industries, announced it was parting ways with the DuPont and would no longer be distributing Corian or Zodiaq surfaces. This merger and the potential synergies or chaos, depending on whether or not the building products division is something that receives additional attention or loses focus, is another unpredictable factor tossed in. Certainly as additional details become available, this media outlet will continue to bring you information.

Colt Industries Parts Ways with DuPont Corian Solid Surface and Zodiaq Quartz

Posted on 09 December 2015 by cradmin

Colt Industries held a live via the Internet press conference on Dec. 8, announcing that it had cut ties with DuPont regarding distribution of Corian solid surface and Zodiaq quartz surfacing. It is unsure how this major shake-up in the solid surface and quartz industry will play out, but Colt is one of DuPont’s largest surfacing distributors, covering 17 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennesee, Texas and Southern Illinois. In place of DuPont’s surfacing products, Colt will now be distributing Diresco Quartz Surfacing, manufactured in Belgium, and Durasein 100 percent acrylic solid surface. Additionally, it will distribute GlueBoss SeamBoss and ClipBoss adhesives in place of DuPont’s.

According to the company, the change was made so the company could offer products of the same quality but at better pricing with faster turnaround on custom color orders. Diresco Quartz has already been stocked in Colt’s facilities and the company expects to have solid surface stocked by the beginning of the new year. The company also reports that the new materials will come in many similar colors as what it previous carried.

DuPont Expands DeepColor Corian Solid Surface Series to Include Browns

Posted on 07 October 2014 by cradmin

Corian DeepColor Deep Storm

Corian Deep Storm, one of the new colors in the brown DeepColor series available in Europe

Earlier this year DuPont finally launched its line of DeepColor Corian solid surface after teasing it for more than a year. Billed by the company as “deeper, darker, more lustrous and durable,” the idea behind the patent-pending DeepColor technoogy was to deliver greater depth of color and improved durability over regular dark colors of Corian solid surface. When scratched, the appearance of the scratch was reduced by 50 percent, according to the company, and it better resisted whitening cause by impacts. The series originally contained four black-based colors:  Deep Anthracite, Deep Nocturne, Deep Night Sky and Deep Black Quartz. However, the company has apparently perfected the use of this technology in dark brown hues, as according to the DuPont website, it is offering six new “Deep Brown” colors in Europe: Deep Mink, Deep Bedrock, Deep Sable, Deep Storm (pictured here), Deep Espresso and Deep Caviar.

It remains to be seen when or if these Deep Browns will be made available in North America.
