Stone Machinery & Supply Vendors Form Trade Group

A group of 37 U.S. and European based companies in the stone equipment and supply industry have formed The Stone Equipment and Supply Alliance. The purpose of the newly formed group is to communicate as a unified voice regarding industry events and trade-shows.

A board of directors has been formed and is composed of the following industry leaders:

  • President – Mike Schlough – Park Industries
  • Vice President – Rick Stimac – BB Industries
  • Treasurer – Ivano Tirapelle – Comandulli NA
  • Secretary – Nick Wadenstorer – BACA Systems
  • Member at Large – Michele Ragno – Biesse America

Nick Wadenstorer of BACA Industries stated, “This is a great opportunity for stone equipment and supply companies to make the trade show experience better for both exhibitors and fabricators.”

GranQuartz Acquires Regent Stone Products

GranQuartz, a division of Pearlman Group and a portfolio company of The Stephens Group, LLC, has acquired Regent Stone Products. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Since 1992, Regent Stone Products has distributed stone fabrication and restoration tools and supplies. Based in Virginia Beach, VA, Regent has built a strong, loyal following with fabricators in the Mid-Atlantic region. Dan Davidenko, CEO of Pearlman Group, commented, “We are excited about the addition of Regent to the Pearlman family. They have a fantastic sales force, who have done an excellent job establishing themselves as trusted, reliable resources to their customers. Weha Debuts New Steel Carbon Fiber Rodding

WEHA steel carbon fiber roddingWeha has developed a new steel carbon fiber rodding. The rodding was developed by placing the steel rodding inside eight-strand premium fiberglass, and reinforcing it again with carbon fiberglass. This process prevents rust from occurring on the steel. Additionally, grooves were designed on the rodding to allow glue adhesion and provide increased strength. The steel carbon fiber rodding is sold in 330-ft. rolls and can be cut with bolt cutters.

Four New Stone Sealers Announced from Wood & Stone Company

Stone Lock Penetrating Stone Sealer and Ultra Premium Sealer were designed as an economical solution for marble and granite stones, and will not change the color of the stone, reports the company. StonEdge Stone Sealer will give a permanent “wet” appearance to the stone and increase luster. Premium Color Enhancing Sealer will enhance colors of stones and provide stain protection. The sealers are designed for natural stones such as granite, marble and limestone, as well as concrete and quartz.

Weha Offers New 4-In., 5-step Dry Diamond Polishing Pads

WEHA dry polishing padsThe new diamond dry polishing pads from Weha are made with the latest multi-diamond matrix bond technology, reports the manufacturer. They are designed for polishing granite, marble, quartzite and other natural stone surfaces. The pads may also be used for wet polishing quartz surfacing and other engineered stone. According to the company, each of the five diamond step pads has its own unique combination of diamonds and matrix bond to gradually create the highest natural polish using only five diamond polishing pads.

Chemical Concepts Keep Nut FastenerChemical Concepts launched a new line of self-anchoring threaded inserts in the form of the Keep-Nut fastening system. According to the company, it is designed to reduce the time and effort put into ensuring a strong and reliable bond and has the capacity to withstand up to 300 KG of pressure. The fastener features quick assembly without the need for adhesives, as well as ease of use with CNC machines and standard tools. Assembly requires no external pieces, or any tensile force on the receiving material when the insert isn’t being pulled out. The application process involves three basic steps: preparing the hole in the material, insuring the correct dimensions with a gauge and installing the Keep-Nut with simple pressure. It is suitable for use on a variety of applications, such as undermount sinks and countertops, stone surfaces and glass, ventilated facades, wall-coverings, etc. It is made of stainless steel and comes with a set of elastic crowns and a plastic ring for housing the complete assembly. Lift-a-syst IICounterBalance Corporation released its new and improved Lift-A-SYST® II model of countertop hardware to lift light to medium weight flip-up counters. The system allows positioning anywhere from 0-90 degrees and prevents the counter segment from abruptly opening or slamming shut. New features and benefits of the system include: one-piece construction; low-profile ; less hardware requirements; all aluminum and stainless steel design, easier mounting and adjusting; and a hidden bolt attachment for arm assembly. They contain no compressed gasses or oils, reducing maintenance and are heavily tested . The new system can replace the six original versions of the units.
