CaraGreen & OHM Announce Joint Sales & Marketing Partnership

Posted on 22 January 2021 by cradmin

CaraGreen Healthy Materials and OHM International have announced their joint sales and marketing partnership. OHM will leverage its distribution infrastructure and brick and mortar locations and showrooms throughout the East Coast with CaraGreen’s strong virtual and online presence, as well as their showrooms and warehouses throughout the East Coast.

OHM’s extensive relationships in the Kitchen and Bath space coupled with CaraGreen’s focus on securing Architect and Designer specifications will create a unique opportunity for both partners to leverage their strengths for select brands within their portfolios.

Brands that OHM offers that will now be promoted by CaraGreen to the Architect and Designer Community include Geoluxe Pyrolithic Stone, Enigma Surfaces and Diresco Bio-UV Quartz. In turn, OHM will be promoting several of CaraGreen’s sustainable brand portfolios to the
residential market, including Durat Solid Surface, PaperStone, GEOS Recycled Glass Surfaces and elementAl surfaces.

“We are always looking for opportunities to increase awareness and reach of our healthy surfacing products,” said Jessica McNaughton, President of CaraGreen. “ OHM’s extensive reach within the Kitchen and Bath space provides us an immediate path to the consumer that we would not have with our heavy focus on architects and designers. The addition of the sustainable brands Diresco, Geoluxe and Enigma, each with a unique environmental story, will complement our current offering and provide even more options for our customers to choose from.”

This partnership represents the shifting market that is focused on sustainability, education and availability. As consumers look to find more unique, sustainable and affordable products, this combined portfolio offers a solution for nearly every customer. Similarly, as architects and designers shift their searches online, the accessibility and ease of finding these products through trusted partners becomes paramount.

Saket Hans, COO at OHM, indicates that “The commercial architect and design space has always been an opportunity for us to expand OHM brands’ reach. The opportunity to partner with CaraGreen has given us a direct path to do that by leveraging their experience and reach in that market segment. Coupled with our longstanding relationships throughout the East Coast, we think this partnership will allow our manufacturers to access both the residential and commercial markets quickly and effectively.”

Posted on 18 January 2021 by cradmin

Daltile has launched two new designs into its ONE Quartz National Marble Series. These new colors are Made in the USA with imported materials in Dal-Tile Corporation’s quartz plant in Dickson, Tenn. The newly launched products are available nationwide.

“These two new exquisite marble designs, Statuary Unity and Statuary Glory, offer beautiful wide veining against modern white backgrounds, with Glory’s background just a hint warmer than Unity’s,” said Roy Viana, director of natural stone and slab for Dal-Tile Corporation. “The veining in these two designs features smooth, flowing movements with clean edges, lending a sophisticated elegance to the overall visuals.”

According to Viana, Statuary Unity and Statuary Glory exemplify how quartz combines the beauty of marble with product performance. These quartz slabs are non-porous, scratch- and stain-resistant, and can be used on walls and countertops.

Statuary Unity and Statuary Glory are extra-large quartz slabs (136 by 79) and are available in 2cm and 3cm sizes. “With interior designers and consumers wanting countertops and walls to be as free of seams as possible, and with the increasing popularity of larger kitchen islands, these extra-large quartz slabs are a perfect format size to meet today’s design needs,” Viana added.

According to the company the quartz produced in Dal-Tile’s Dickson facility is made using proprietary design technologies, the most advanced decorative capabilities, the highest levels of gloss and clarity and exclusive colors and designs.

MSI Introduces LumaLuxe Technology

Posted on 14 January 2021 by cradmin

MSI has introduced Q with LumaLuxe. The material has the same qualities that make Q quartz a durable and beautiful surface, but with next generation technology that enhances the realism and depth.

These new technological advancements in the manufacture of quartz slabs result in a product that is more realistic than ever, with superior visual qualities:

  • Superior Whiteness: Lumaluxe is available in several different color variations, but the white shades are a purer, brighter white that will catch the light and make the room feel airy and opulent.
  • Dramatic Veining: Unlike many other marble-look surfaces, the veining in Lumaluxe does not just appear on the surface, but runs through the entire slab, so the countertops are more realistic than ever. Part of natural marble’s appeal is its endless variation, while manufactured surfaces are more consistent in pattern. Lumaluxe’s dramatic veining, however, appears authentic no matter how large a space it covers.
  • Increased Depth: In a countertop, depth refers to what lies beneath the very top surface, catching and reflecting the light. Lumaluxe’s exclusive formula creates a surface with a slight transparency, just enough to add amazing, eye-catching dimension and character.

According to the company LumaLuxe is a breakthrough in Quartz surface engineering that enhances the way light interacts with the Quartz surface. It is an exclusive MSI formulation that enhances the countertops’ beauty, improving shine, dimension and drama, with colors and patterns you can’t find anywhere else. Q with Lumaluxe is manufactured using internationally patented Bretonstone® system of Breton S.p.A., Italy, as well as state-of-the-art manufacturing systems across the globe.

As with MSI’s other premium quartz countertops, Lumaluxe is waterproof, stain- and mildew-resistant and food-safe.

Leon Zanger, Founder of Walker Zanger Passes Away

Posted on 13 January 2021 by cradmin

With heavy hearts and sadness, we share with you the news that Leon Zanger, one of the founders of the American stone and tile design resource, Walker Zanger, has died at the age of 93 due to complications of COVID-19.

Born in Belgium, Zanger and his family fled Europe during the 1940 German invasions and immigrated to the U.S. when he was 12 years old. Before the family arrived in the U.S., they settled in Portugal for a few years, where Zanger watched in awe as workers paved the streets with marble. This first experience with this extraordinary material—which Zanger had only seen used at museums and palaces of Belgium—never left his mind. It would lead to the Walker Zanger brand’s inspired beginnings.

Zanger revolutionized the use of the material within North America. He started Walker Zanger in 1953 with partner Marvin Walker, importing marble from Portugal and pioneered the use of the material for tabletops. In 1963, Zanger began importing stone tiles to the U.S., breaking open the stone tile market in residential settings. The company grew from there, expanding to find unique products so designers and homeowners can create their boldest visions and unconventional designs. Zanger was an integral role player in some of Walker Zanger’s most famous projects, including sourcing historically-accurate Italian stone for J. Paul Getty’s Villa in Malibu, Calif.

Leon Zanger’s son, Jonathan Zanger, and daughter, Claudia Springer, said: “He founded Walker Zanger almost 70 years ago, and although the great love of his life was our mother, Hanna, and his family, his second love was the company he built, the people he employed, and the friendships he made among clients and suppliers, around the world. He always told us that his proudest achievement was that the company that bears his name supported countless hundreds, and even thousands, of families, over the decades.”

SBA and Treasury Re-open PPP Loan Portal

Posted on 12 January 2021 by cradmin

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), in consultation with the U.S. Treasury Department, re-opened the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan portal. SBA is continuing its dedicated commitment to underserved small businesses and to addressing potential access to capital barriers by initially granting PPP access exclusively to community financial institutions (CFIs) that typically serve these concerns.

When the PPP loan portal re-opened, it initially accepted First Draw PPP loan applications from participating CFIs, which include Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), Minority Depository Institutions (MDIs), Certified Development Companies (CDCs) and Microloan Intermediaries. These lenders made up approximately 10 percent of all PPP participating lenders in 2020. A First Draw PPP loan is for those borrowers who had yet to receive a PPP loan before the program closed in August 2020.

On Jan. 13, 2021, participating CFIs may begin submitting application information to SBA for Second Draw PPP loans. A Second Draw PPP loan is for certain eligible borrowers that previously received a PPP loan, generally have 300 employees or less, and has suffered a 25 percent reduction in gross receipts. At least $15 billion is set aside for additional PPP lending by CFIs.

In the near future, additional lenders will be able to submit First and Second draw PPP loan applications. SBA will continue to provide updates on systems operations. Additionally, SBA plans to dedicate specific times to process and assist the smallest PPP lenders with loan applications from eligible small businesses.

The opening of the SBA loan system is designed to efficiently and effectively implement the Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act and to ensure increased access to the PPP for minority-, underserved-, veteran- and women-owned small business concerns. SBA also is calling upon its lending partners to redouble their efforts to assist eligible borrowers in underserved and disadvantaged communities.

Updated PPP Lender forms, guidance and resources are available at
