Wood & Stone Co. Offers Stone/Surfacing Glues

Posted on 15 October 2015 by cradmin

wood and stone 2 acrylic penetrating gluesWood and Stone Company has two types of acrylic penetrating glues made for repairing and laminating granite, quartz surfacing, marble and engineered stone. The first is Wood & Stone Acrylic Penetrating Crack Sealer, which is a thin liquid designed to flow like water and made to fill cracks and reinforce stone and stone-like products. It is for very thin, hairline cracks that flowing glue has difficulty penetrating. It is  clear and cures quickly, according to the company.

The second adhesive product is Wood & Stone Acrylic Super Penetrating Glue, a low-viscosity system for bonding and filling on horizontal surfaces. While it is thinner than standard polyester flowing glues, it is not as thin as the company’s crack sealer, which allows broader usage. According to the company, it is suitable for filling larger cracks, pits and holes. Additionally, because it is clear, users can mix in ground up stone powder to assist in color matching with larger holes, chips and blowouts. And, because of its thinness, it is very suitable for laminating, as it will spread very thin to create tight seams, reports the company.

The company also makes an acrylic knife grade adhesives as well.

Omni Cubed Offers Miter-It Lamination Clamp

Posted on 13 July 2015 by cradmin

Miter It up lamination clamp from Omni CubedOmni Cubed offers the Miter-It™ clamp, a jig that allows fabricators to keep their eyes on the seam for finished-side-up miter laminations. Mitering without flipping the stone reduces risk of worker injury and damage to the material. The jig securely holds pieces in place at 90 degrees, eliminating the need for extra workers to position the material. The combination of the clamp’s weight and non-marking, non-skid contact surface hold the clamp and miter piece in place during lamination. This simple, yet innovative design minimizes maintenance and reduces the number of awkward adjustments, reports the company. The clamp also features a baked-on powder coat finish with durable steel construction, and can accommodate laminated edges of 1.5 to 6 in.

Groves Introduces Miter Up 200 Countertop Lamination Clamp

Posted on 20 March 2013 by cradmin

Groves Inc. now offers the Miter Up 200 lamination clamp, designed to help in the fabrication of laminations for miter and rabbet joints on natural and engineered stone. The clamp’s ergonomic design allows fabricators to work with the countertop surface facing up, which eliminates kneeling or bending to observe the alignment of the joint. Because fabricators can clearly see and precisely adjust the fit and finish quickly and easily, laminations can be completed in a fraction of the time, cutting labor costs while improving productivity. For long jobs, it also eliminates the need for a second person to help hold the lamination strip while clamping it in place, or to help flip the top back over to finish the raw newly-mitered edge.

The Miter Up 200 supports the fragile lamination strips at multiple points across the length of the joint, saving time and money by reducing breakage and eliminating rework.  It is available in lengths of 6 ft. with three L clamps, 7 ft. and 8 ft. with four L clamps, and 10 ft. with five L clamps.
