Dekton by Cosentino Achieves Carbon Neutrality

Posted on 30 October 2020 by cradmin3

Carbon neutrality has been achieved for the entire life cycle of Dekton® (from cradle to grave), covering Scopes 1, 2 and 3, from the extraction of the raw material, to the use of the product and the end of its life.

This recognition, obtained through emission reduction and compensation projects certified by the United Nations, confirms the good practices of Cosentino Group in terms of sustainability and environmental management. In addition to the above-mentioned calculations, has been fostered by the strong measures taken by Cosentino in recent years to achieve greater efficiency in terms of energy, consumption of resources, use of renewable electricity and sustainable mobility policies.

In the field of carbon footprint calculation, an emissions reduction plan has been implemented. In the case of Dekton, the plan has resulted in a 7 percent reduction in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions thanks to both the implementation of the best available techniques and the optimization of processes, with investments of more than 3 million euros.

Finally, in order to achieve carbon neutrality, Dekton has offset its emissions by investing in GHG emission reduction projects. These projects are not only responsible, but also have a strong social component in support of achieving the SDGs of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

“In Cosentino we are progressing alongside the international momentum in the transition to a low-carbon economy, promoting energy efficiency, emissions reduction and sustainable mobility. This approach enhances our innovative character and allows us to improve processes with a vision of the future and, ultimately, combines our performance with strategic goals such as innovation (SDG 9), sustainable production (SDG 12), and climate action (SDG 13)”, says Antonio Urdiales, Environment Director of Cosentino Group.

Cosentino Presents New Dekton Collection

Liquid Sky (circular slab) and Liquid Shell (rectangular slab) – Image Credit: Alberto Rojas

Cosentino has introduced the Liquid Collection by PATTERNITY for Dekton®, the state-of-the-art, ultra-compact large format surface. Designed by London-based pattern experts and designers, PATTERNITY, in collaboration with Cosentino’s Design Team, the collection was previewed at Design Miami. The 2020 collection offers three new innovative colors.

With a collection that celebrates liquid, it was essential to both Cosentino and PATTERNITY that consideration of water use was at the heart of how the collection is constructed. Cosentino is making steps towards a more circular design process, collecting and reusing 95 percent of water used in production, and is also working to reduce the water used in its manufacturing processes.

These three innovative hues, Liquid Shell, Liquid Embers, and Liquid Sky, center around the beauty of nature, environmental awareness and celebrating sustainable design practice.

Liquid Sky’s unique characteristics consist of a white base with flowing grey veins.

Liquid Shell’s pearlescent shade is a varying off-white with a rippling pattern of the landscape of the ocean floor.

Reminiscent of magma, Liquid Embers is a dark, carbon-like design that visualizes the alchemy of the elements.

Cosentino Launches Dekton Chromica Collection

Posted on 06 November 2019 by cradmin

Dekton by Cosentino has launched a new collection in collaboration with architect and designer Daniel Germani. The Chromica Collection is comprised of two deeply saturated hues with a sleek matte finish that exudes drama and sophistication.

The intense character of the Baltic blue and Feroe green colorways draw inspiration directly from nature’s wildest and most remote places, reflecting Mother Nature’s force and determination. Valentín Tijeras, Global Product and R&D Vice President for Cosentino Group, says this new offering meets previously unaddressed need in residential, commercial and hospitality design.

Baltic emerges from the most daring depths of the sea, from the struggle between light and darkness to master the nuances of the ocean. A pure, aesthetic concept in dark blue that boasts a strong yet serene personality.

Inspired by the hidden and unexplored corners of nature, Feroe combines a subdued and sophisticated character, resulting in a unique dark green hue. A tone created in harmony, it perfectly complements warm, fresh design palettes.

According to the company the new Dekton Chromica collection offers superior resistance to UV rays, scratches, stains and sudden changes in temperature. Its durability and low maintenance guarantee a long useful life regardless of its application.

Dekton is available in large-format slabs and in various thicknesses, allowing for a large range of creative possibilities for architects and designers for commercial and residential projects alike.

Performance of Laminam Ceramic Compact Surface

Posted on 17 January 2017 by cradmin

While this video, produced by Laminam, starts off looking like a commercial for a restaurant with a chef making pasta and such, it soon becomes apparent it is a demonstration of how the company’s ceramic compact material performs under heavy use conditions. The material is subject to cutting and chopping, oil and acidic materials poured directly on it, liquids that are commonly known to stain, etc. After this, it is simply wiped clean and appears to have no damage.

Laminam is along the lines of Dekton or Neolith compact materials, but it has been said it is “tension free” meaning no relief cuts need be made in it when fabricating.

We’d love to hear your experiences using this product. Post a response to this video below or drop us a line.
