Wilsonart Introduces Backsplash Collection

Posted on 25 April 2019 by cradmin

The backsplash has been an important design element of any kitchen for decades. In addition to complementing the countertops, backsplashes protect work areas and provide a focal point for a kitchen’s design. According to Houzz 2019 U.S. Kitchen Trends Study, nearly nine in 10 renovating homeowners (87 percent) install a new backsplash as part of their kitchen upgrade.

Wilsonart has introduced the Wilsonart® Backsplash, an acrylic collection featuring a mixture of on-trend, artistic and traditional brick patterns.

According to Houzz, white and grey appear on half of all upgraded backsplashes and walls, and the brick pattern (also known as subway) is still the most popular pick with 54 percent of homeowners choosing it. Wilsonart’s new Backsplash Collection incorporates both popular colors within each of six new designs. From the abstract, geometric Star pattern to the clean, classic look of two Subway tiles, the Backsplash Collection’s designs are fresh and timeless. Ideal for standard backsplashes that extend up to 18-inches from the work area to the cabinets, Wilsonart Backsplash can also be used to create an accent wall behind the increasingly popular floating shelves. While no special tools are required, Wilsonart Backsplashes are not suitable for installation behind gas cooktops or gas slide-in ranges.

The Collection includes: Star, a medium-scale dark grey design with a white abstract geometric star pattern; Maltese Grey, a medium-scale mosaic pattern in shades of grey on a white background; Maltese Ochre, a medium-scale mosaic pattern with pops of yellow and on-trend grey on a white background; Metro White, a large-scale white subway tile design; Metro Grey, a large-scale mid-tone grey subway tile design; Geometry, a large-scale white design with grey hexagon geometric pattern.

Staron Adds New Colors to Supreme Solid Surface Collection

Posted on 08 September 2017 by cradmin

staronLOTTE Advanced Materials has added four new colors to the The Staron Supreme™ collection. This collection is a next-generation acrylic solid surface material that is distinguished by its free-form, marble-like patterns. The result is a natural aesthetic highlighted by visual “movement” in its design. Like all Staron products, the Supreme Collection is color-through and non-porous, providing a durable surface.

These colors are suitable for high-traffic, commercial-use applications such as food service and hospitality, healthcare, corporate environments, as well as residential. With four new colors, the Staron Supreme collection by LOTTE Advanced Materials has expanded to a palette of fourteen colors. The four new color options are: Morning Sky; Cotton White; Beige Granite; and Urban Grey.

In addition, the Supreme Collection offers fabricators and designers a material that is capable of being shaped into virtually any configuration. The surface can be laser-cut and back-lit, thermo-formed, and applied vertically as well as horizontally.

Staron is reportedly simple to clean and ultra-hygienic and nonporous, so moisture, mold and bacteria cannot penetrate. Those features also make Staron suitable for medical clinics, hospitals and other health care facilities, because it easily withstands frequent cleaning and is inherently sanitary while also providing a tactile design element.

MR Direct Offers TruGranite Sinks

Posted on 18 December 2013 by cradmin

trugranitekitchenMR Direct offers TruGranite kitchen sinks made from an 80 percent quartzite and 20 percent acrylic composite material. Quartzite is known for its wearability, and acrylic acts as a natural sound dampener, so no sound reducing pads are needed, according to the company. Aside from being scratch-resistant, the sinks are not weakened by household acids or harsh cleaning products, such as lemon juice, vinegar and bleach. The sinks are also resistant to temperatures up to 550 degrees F. They are made with pigments that penetrate the entire sink, not just the surface, and are available in five colors: Beige, Black, Mocha, Silver, and White. A variety of bowl shapes and sizes are available, and there are also undermount styles that include hardware. During production, silver ions are added to the sinks to help kill bacterial growth.

In this video, Tommy Cook, well known concrete countertop guru, shows his process for sealing concrete using an acrylic-based sealer. The simple process basically just uses the sealer and a micro-fiber pad. While the demonstration is being performed on a fireplace surround, the narrator makes it clear this same process is applicable for countertops.

This is the first video in a three-part series showing the sealing process with acrylics. The second video shows the process for applying an acrylic urethane wax coating over the sealer and the final part shows how to strip off the acrylic sealer should rework need to be performed.
