Meganite Introduces True Terrazzo Collection

Posted on 03 May 2021 by cradmin

Meganite celebrates the renaissance of the popular 15th century Venetian trend with an all-new collection of Terrazzo inspired, 100 percent acrylic solid surface designs.

True Terrazzo captures the classic true look of natural terrazzo into modern design that reveals an extraordinary aesthetic potential and versatility in daily use. Compared with original terrazzo tiles, the key advantage lies with all the fundamental functionality of Meganite’s standard solid surface.

According to the company the non-porous properties enable it to be installed in any environment from healthcare to food service to residential spaces without fear of harboring mold or bacteria with the hygienic surface also being easy to clean and maintain.

The new designs include: Rosy Terrazzo, Aqua Terrazzo, Alpi Terrazzo, Vintage Terrazzo, Caramel Terrazzo (pictured), Serenity Terrazzo and Urban Terrazzo. The colors are available in 12 mm thickness (usual terrazzo is 20 mm) which provides the flexibility for thermoforming needs in any space.

Schultz Forming Products Carries Solid Surface Vacuum Former

Posted on 12 August 2016 by cradmin

Schultzform - CopyManufactured by Schultz Forming Products, the Solid Surface Vacuum Former is available in two standard sizes: 48 by 103 in. and 48 by 150 in., however custom sizes are also available. The membrane frame raises 28 in. for tall projects. The machine uses a reserve tank to hold vacuum pressure so that there is no need for a large pump that has to run all the time making the units energy efficient. The vacuum pressure is easily controlled with a Mercoid switch. All functions are controlled electronically with a simple to understand panel located on the front of the unit: “Power On,” “Frame Up/Down,” Apply Vacuum” and “Release” to dump the vacuum, which allows a faster frame opening action for project removal. The Membrane is held in place with snaps for easy removal. Used mainly for forming solid surface materials and plastics, it can also be used for decorative sheet film and porous materials like veneer. They are durable, maintenance-free and easy to use, reports the company.

Thermoforming Solid Surface

Posted on 16 October 2012 by cradmin

Here is another great video, this one posted by Sterling Surfaces – a fabrication outfit in Massachusetts that is well known for its 3-D thermoforming capabilities – depicting the creation of a complex solid surface desk. The desk was made out of LG HI-MACS for the product’s owner LG Hausys, to be displayed at the 2010 Greenbuild show.

The video only provides a glimpse of Sterling’s actual thermoforming station/process, but otherwise does a good job of showing the process from the mold to the final finishing. Well worth a watch for those interested in solid surface:
