MSI Adds Augmented Reality Tool To Company Website

Posted on 12 June 2018 by cradmin

MSI recently modernized its website and added an augmented reality (AR) tool. With a few clicks or taps, the tool allows users to instantaneously see any of MSI’s flooring products on the floor of their choice.

MSI’s AR feature does not require the user to download an app, nor does it require the user to select the corners of the surface they want to alter—instead, the tool automatically detects the space. To get started, the consumer finds a flooring product they like, then clicks or taps the “See This on My Floor” button conveniently located under the product image. Next, they choose “Take a Photo of My Room” then “Use Photo” and immediately (no waiting like other AR tools) the flooring product is rendered into the image of their room. Alternatively, rather than uploading an image, the user may choose from six pre-populated room scenes including a spacious kitchen, contemporary master bathroom, grand foyer, and more.

Once the image is rendered users can take any number of next steps. Options include selecting a different sized tile, rotating the tile ninety degrees, or tapping “Change Product” to select a new product or filter by look, color, or material type—all without leaving their rendered room scene. This makes the tool incredibly valuable when comparing how several different tiles may look in the same room—a feature designers, retailers, and homeowners are sure to appreciate.

Once the user has honed in on the products they’re interested in they can find their nearest MSI dealer or  MSI showroom to see the products in person. Or, order a sample, share the products via email, or post them to social media. Although optimized for mobile, the AR feature also works well on desktop.

Fabricator Profile: Dream Stone – a Company with a Method to Beating Low-priced Competition

Posted on 27 May 2013 by cradmin

Dream Stone Countertop Fabrication Shop

Dream Stone, in Longmont, Colo., like many stone fabricators these days, has had to face low-priced competitors. However, owner Scott Murphy made a decision to not play the pricing game and instead focus on high-quality craftsmanship. Instead of dropping his prices to try to compete with the low-priced companies in his area, Murphy decided to diversify his business and it has worked out well. Not only does he offer a diverse line of products (countertops, flooring, carved stone products, shower surrounds, etc.), he also goes after different (and sometimes distant) markets. This method has served his business well… Read more about Dream Stone at Moreaware’s blog

Great Insight For Specifying Tile, Stone

Posted on 05 October 2012 by cradmin

If you work in the commercial arena – whether fabricator or specifier – there is a great article I ran across that you should check out. It’s entitled “Good Specs Mean Good Tile and Stone Installations” and can be found here.

The article ran in the December issue of the Construction Specifier magazine and was penned by Donato V. Pompo, CTC, CMR, CSI, CDT, MBA, of Ceramic Tile and Stone Consultants, Inc. (CTaSC).

Not only does it discuss the importance of meeting critical industry standards and writing a spec for the specific job rather than just cutting and pasting in generic language, it also talks about quality control and the value of using a quality product, and just as important, a quality fabricator/installer that has been properly trained.

And it was awarded by the Construction Specifier Institute as the best article of the year, so others are taking note too.

Read it, share it and send us your feedback – we’d love to hear your opinion…
