Safe + Sound Week Kicks Off on August 12

Posted on 30 July 2019 by cradmin

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will join businesses and organizations nationwide to recognize the importance and successes of workplace safety and health programs during Safe + Sound Week, August 12-18, 2019.

The week-long event encourages employers to implement workplace safety initiatives, and highlight workers’ contributions to improving safety. Businesses that incorporate safety and health programs can help prevent injuries and illnesses, reduce workers’ compensation costs, and improve productivity.

“Leadership commitment matters and demonstrates workplace safety is a priority,” said Acting Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Loren Sweatt. “Safe + Sound Week reminds employers that safety and health programs help businesses save money, eliminate injuries, and most importantly save lives.”

Organizations of any size or in any industry looking for an opportunity to show their commitment to safety to workers, customers, the public, or supply chain partners should participate. Learn more about how to help plan and promote safety and health plans.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA’s role is to help ensure these conditions for America’s working men and women by setting and enforcing standards, and providing training, education and assistance. According to the company, the lights are easy to connect and install, as the fixtures come pre-assembled. Like other products under the Task Lighting brand, sempriaLED offers a Color Rendering Index above industry averages, easily achieving 90+ CRI on every fixture.

All sempriaLED fixtures are UL listed, assembled in the USA, and carry a five-year warranty. The lights are rated for 50,000 hours.

Chinese Ceramic Tile Duties Decision Pushed Back to September

Posted on 18 July 2019 by cradmin

The U.S. Department of Commerce has issued notice that the initial decision regarding duties on Chinese ceramic tile imports has been delayed.

Earlier this year the Coalition for Fair Trade in Ceramic Tile (CFTCT), a group of eight U.S. tile producers, filed a petition for relief from what it claimed are Chinese unfair trade practices. The CFTCT requested the delay to allow more time for investigating subsidy claims. The unfair-trade petition covers all ceramic-tile products from China, including large-format slabs.

According to the notice released by the Commerce Dept., “The Coalition for Fair Trade in Ceramic Tile, submitted a timely request that we postpone the preliminary countervailing duty (CVD) determination because the Department of Commerce is still in the respondent selection phase of this investigation, and because this case may present certain complicated issues. The petitioner states that additional time is necessary to ensure that Commerce can conduct a full investigation regarding the subsidy benefits received by Chinese producers and exporters of ceramic tile.”

The due date for the preliminary determination on countervailing duty has been extended to September 6, 2019 and the antidumping-duty decision will be made by mid-September.
