GranQuartz Acquires Granite City Tool

GranQuartz/Granite City ToolGranQuartz, L.P., a Harbour Group company, recently announced the acquisition of the assets of Granite City Tool Company, Inc. “Granite City and GranQuartz have been serving the same market for many years.  The combination of the two businesses greatly strengthens their ability to offer a broader line of products and expand their geographic reach.  We look forward to bringing Granite City under our umbrella and to help them continue to grow their distribution reach,” commented Jeff Fox, Harbour Group’s chairman and chief executive officer. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Granite City has distributed cutting tools, abrasives and ancillary products for the stone cutting and monument industries since 1885.  The company, based in St. Cloud, Minn., serves the needs of customers who primarily reside in the upper Midwest.  Granite City maintains several brand names including Rival®, Rival Bond™, Dia-Pro® and Nitro One Shot™.

Dan Davidenko, GranQuartz president and chief executive officer, commented, “We are excited about the addition of Granite City and believe their long-term position in the upper Midwest and strong customer relationships will help us continue to grow our presence there and throughout the country.”

Granite City Tool Carries Metabo Cordless Angle Grinder

Metabo W18LTX-1155_0Granite City Tool now carries the Metabo W 18 LTX Cordless Angle Grinder. The angle grinder features a no-load speed of 8,000 rpm; a max wheel diameter of 4-1/2 in.; an 18-volt, 5.2 Ah capacity battery pack; a spindle thread of 5/8 to 11 in.; an arbor size of 7/8-in.; a tool length of 13 in.; and a tool weight of 5.3 lbs. It’s slim design and swiveled battery pack are suitable for low-fatigue working in limited space. It also has a tool-free adjustable guard that is twist-proofed and a detachable dust filter as motor protection from course particles. Additionally, it has overload protection that keeps the motor from overheating and electronic soft start for a smooth start-up. The angle grinder’s no-volt release switch also prevents unintentional start-up after the power is cut. The battery pack has a three-year warranty and features a capacity display for checking the charge status.
